:::  River Status

Date:
Tueday July 24 07

Time:
10:00 am

Status:
River Open

Forecast:
Water levels have dropped another 6" since yesterday giving 30" of clearance under the lower rail bridge.
That being said the mandatory portage is not in effect today. The Tapleys area is running fast (no rapids) inexperienced paddlers should hire a guide. The main purpose of the guide is to provide paddling instruction. Have you ever been in a canoe on a lake having a perfectly grand time and the wind comes up and you can't keep your boat going where you want it?
After a trip down the River of Golden Dreams with a guide you'll have the expertise to steer a canoe (or kayak) in most any conditions.

Wildlife sighting this week include two bear (which were crossing over the river on bridges), a big beaver who put on quite a display and our family of opsrey who have been diving out of the sky picking up fish in the lake.
The weather is getting better with water levels dropping. Should be good paddling all week.

Lakeside Park is open as always for canoe, kayak, paddleboat and rowboat rentals by the hour.
