Canoe and Kayak Tours
Backroads
Whistler offers a great range of canoeing and kayaking tours
for all levels of expertise. We offer you fantastic views +
of the Whistler mountains, rivers and even the chance to see
wild animals including birds, bears and beavers along the
way.
We run both guided or unguided canoe and kayaking tours
on the valley lakes and River of Golden Dreams. To get you
on the water, board our complementary
shuttle bus from our shop in Whistler Village to the waters
edge. Backroads will pick you up at the end of the trip and
drive you back to our store or with our Pedal Paddle tour,
we’ll have the bikes ready for you at the boat take
out. This will allow you to cycle at your leisure back to
the village.

| River
of Golden Dreams
"The Canadian river you've always wanted to
paddle down."
It's a jungle
safari under old growth forest trees, wild flower
lined banks, wildlife and glacier capped mountain
views! Nestled in the Whistler Valley you will
discover the River of Golden Dreams, a small,
generally slow moving flat-water river, which winds
its way from Alta Lake to Green Lake. You'll enjoy the
river as you laugh in delight, steering the boat
around corners, sit back as you enjoy epic mountain
views, then be surprised by birds taking flight off
the water right in front of your boat. Romance,
excitement, adventure! This is truly a trip you don't
want to miss and one of Whistler's original and
most popular activities. Whistler locals want to
paddle the river at least once every summer. Very
different than paddling on a lake. Come see why!
Family friendly and with our guides/instructors
providing technique tips you'll become
experienced flat water river paddlers.
Logistics: The River of Golden Dreams is a
three-hour round trip adventure. Our free shuttle will
pick up guests from the village for their adventure
with us. The pickup location is on Main St, at the
back of Comor Sports, with pickups scheduled for
9:15am, 10:15am and 1:30pm. On the completion of their
trip guests will be returned to the village. Hotel
pickups are available by prior arrangement.
Value Season Bonus: During April,
May and September enjoy an extra hour on the water
free of charge. Speak to our reservations staff for
more details.
Guided River of Golden Dreams Tour
Our knowledgeable and qualified guides and
instructors will show you paddling techniques
and teach you about Whistler's history,
geography, flora, and wildlife. A guided tour
allows our guests to know what is around the
next corner and receive instructions throughout
the tour to prevent you from getting in the
reeds and bushes.

Paddle
Pedal
"A trip that will wet yer whistle and turn
yer crank"
Enjoy the best of both worlds. Take a gentle paddle
down the River of Golden Dreams. At the end of your paddle we will have your
bikes waiting for you; trade in your boats
and explore Whistler by bike. Our staff will point
you in the right direction as you cycle back to
Lakeside Park on paved bike path or through the forested trails.
The trip includes a shuttle bus to the lake, boat
rentals (boat, paddle, lifejacket), and the bike and helmet for the rest of the
day.
Our Paddle Pedal trips are available as unguided,
semi guided and fully guided. Semi guided means you'll
have a guide during the boating portion and be able to
cycle on your own during the biking portion.
Logistics:You can begin your adventure at
Lakeside Park or be met at the pickup location in
the village (located on Main St at the back of Comor
Sports). Once at the lake, you are fitted with
lifejackets and paddles, then taken through an
orientation with their boats prior to your
departure. We then paddle the lake and river then
meet approximately 2 1/2 hours later at the take out
where you trade your boat for the previously fitted
bike.
On a fully guided trip, your guide is with you for the whole trip, leading
you back to the village on various trails depending
on your level of ability and whether you want a
scenic trip or off road instruction and technique
tips. If semi-guided, the guide is with you during
the boating portion and then you are free to roam on
your bikes. If unguided, the driver gives you a map
and directions on how to make it back to Lakeside
Park in the most enjoyable way.
