Get the best of both worlds with a combined boat and bike tour featuring epic views around every bend of Whistler’s famous River of Golden Dreams. Discover the resort’s lush, old growth forests and wildflower-lined banks, as well as its stunning snow-capped mountain vistas. Paddle the resort’s most iconic waterway – solo or with a knowledgeable and experienced guide – then finish the day exploring Whistler’s wonderful biking trails. This is truly a trip that lets you experience two different Whistler summer activities in one great tour.
Paddle Pedal trips are available as unguided, semi-guided and fully guided. Semi-guided means you'll have a guide during the boating portion and be solo when you grab your bikes. Staff can point you in the direction of great forested biking trails or paved trails depending on your skill level.
Take a gentle paddle down the River of Golden Dreams with a knowledgeable guide. When you finish having fun on the water, you can explore Whistler on the bike for the rest of the day. This is a 5-hour, fully guided tour. Plus, we guarantee our guides. If, at the end of your adventure, you do not feel that the guide represented great value, we would not expect you to pay for them.

Your Paddle Pedal adventure begins at the Lakeside Park Watersports Centre on beautiful Alta Lake. Take advantage of Backroads’ free parking at the lake, or give us a call and we can arrange to pick you up from your Hotel. Once there, you’ll be fitted with lifejackets and paddles. Although orientation sessions are available, it is recommended that guests wanting to take self-guided or solo tours should be competent paddlers.
You’ll then paddle the lake and river for approximately 2 ½ hours before returning to Whistler Village for your biking portion of the tour. Choose from fully-guided, semi-guided or self-guided excursions. Guides will only remain with guests during the boating section of semi-guided tours, but we’ll supply you with maps and ideas based on your skill level and abilities.
It’s also a good idea to bring a warm sweater or light jacket, as mountain weather changes quickly. Backroads Whistler operates rain or shine though, and provides complimentary warm clothing and rain gear. Don’t forget to bring your camera, so you have lots of pictures from your Paddle Pedal adventure.
