Whistler is well known for its pristine natural surroundings and its abundant wildlife. And there’s no better time than the end of the day to experience all of the resort’s myriad little critters in their natural habitat.
At twilight, the River of Golden Dreams comes alive with everything from wild birds to Whistler’s famous black bears. Twilight is also the most romantic time for a serene float down the river as the sun sets the pink and crimson alpenglow on the surrounding glacier-capped mountains. Few canoe or kayak tours can compare with a twilight paddle down the River of Golden Dreams.
Most all of our guests ask, “Will I see a bear?”
Bears are a regular sight on the River of Golden Dreams, as are beaver, otter, eagles, osprey, fish, bats, birds, mink, raccoons as well as other wildlife. Generally, wildlife is more likely to be active in the early evening. Fully guided. Reservations are required.

Wildlife at Twilight adventures take place nightly at the Lakeside Park Watersports Centre on beautiful Alta Lake. Take advantage of Backroads’ free parking at the lake. Once there, you’ll be fitted with lifejackets and paddles, and then taken through an orientation with your guide prior to your departure.
It’s a good idea to bring a warm sweater or light jacket too, as mountain weather changes quickly. Backroads Whistler operates rain or shine though, and provides complimentary warm clothing and rain gear. Don’t forget to bring your camera, so you have lots of pictures from your Wildlife at Twilight adventure.
Group rates upon request.
A credit card number is required at time of booking. All reservations are subject to a $25.00 per person cancellation fee. Reservations cancelled within 48 hours of the tour and "no shows" are subject to the full tour price.
