Self-Guided Trips on the River of Golden Dreams

The River of Golden Dreams is an ever-changing waterway, offering a different experience each time you paddle. It’s this variety that keeps guests returning year after year. Experience the awe of it all on a self-guided trip.

Spring (May – early July)
Higher water levels mean a faster-moving river. We recommend a moderate to high level of paddling experience, or prior experience on moving water, to fully enjoy your trip during this season.

Summer (early July – mid-August)
As water levels drop, the river becomes more accessible for guests of all experience levels. Its winding channels offer a relaxed, scenic paddle. Orientation sessions are provided prior to departure to ensure you feel confident and prepared.

Late Summer & Fall (mid-August onward)
Lower water levels create a more active, hands-on experience. Beaver dams along the route may require a few short portages, while stretches between remain enjoyable and scenic. With careful navigation, you may even glide through natural “water slides” formed by the dams.
